Sanjay Patil : Nagpur: With implementation of lockdown to prevent spread of coronavirus, Nagpur wore a deserted look. There is hardly any VIP movement visible in the city. People got bored and shopowners too are not very happy because of less number of visitors. But on Wednesday, on Nagpur’s street everybody witnessed the movement of convoy of Guardian Minister Dr Nitin Raut who reviewed the situation. He not only took stock of the lockdown but also met small vendors in market places, talked to people, enquired about them, encouraged them and wished them Gudhi Padwa.
The visit of Dr Raut gave solace to the people. Dr Raut was accompanied by Divisional Commissioner Dr Sanjeev Kumar, Commissioner of Police Dr Bhushan Kumar Upadhyay, Additional Commissioner Abhijit Bangar, Superintendent of Police (rural) Rakesh Ola and others. During his round, the convoy of Dr Raut stopped at several places. Dr Raut wearing mask got down from the car asked citizens whether they were moving unnecessary or had some work? He had conversation with people running grocery shop, vegetables, fruits stalls. He also asked them whether they were facing any problems.
He noticed the people staying under Shahid Gowari flyover and asked officials to take care of them, provide them food. Dr Raut told ‘The Hitavada’, “I have instructed officials to see to it that the supply of essential services like distribution of grocery, milk, vegetables, fruits, medicines should not hamper. Officials are asked to take stern action against those involved in hoarding of goods, black-marketing.” “People should not be panic as there will be no scarcity of essential items, services, health services. Citizens should not make rush in the shops, at petrol pumps. I applaud the work of district administration. At Government level everything is being done in a smooth manner.
People should have patience and support Government,” appealed Dr Raut. Dr Raut went through Samvidhan square, Automotive Square, Kalamna market, Pardi naka, Wardhman Nagar, Telephone exchange square, Gandhibag, Sarafa Line, Tinnal chowk, Golibar chowk, Timki Bazar, Mominpura, Geetanjali chowk, Mayo Hospital, railway station, Manas chowk, Sitabuldi, Variety chowk, Jhansi Rani square, Rahate colony, Chhatrapati chowk, Jaiprakash Nagar, Khamla chowk, Jaitala, Mangalmurty chowk, Subhash Nagar, Mate chowk, Abhyankar chowk, VNIT square, Bajaj Nagar, Shankar Nagar square, Laxmi Bhuvan square, Dharampeth, Civil Lines.
Guardian Minister Dr Nitin Raut on Monday ordered officials of Labour Department to conduct meetings with industrial units and ask them not to deduct salaries of employees and labourers, who take leave as precaution against coronavirus outbeak. Dr Raut informed ‘The Hitavada’ that as curfew was imposed in the State by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, steps are being taken to ensure that there was no scarcity of essential commodities amid coronavirus outbreak.

The guardian minister conducted meetings with non-government organisations (NGOs), private medical practitioners, major private hospitals, Grocery shop association, Oil merchant association, Daal Mill association, Pharmacy association, Fruit vendors association and Transport unions. “I talked to every important leader of all these unions and urged them that no citizen should face problem during the curfew. They assured all sort of help in this critical situation,” he stated. Movement of private vehicle will be open during the curfew but they should get the permission from police authorities.
“One has to submitt details including vehicle registration number, address proofs and other documents,” he said and added that movement of Essential services would also be allowed only after permitted by the police. Stating all prayer houses will also remain shut down during the curfew till March 31st, Dr Raut said, “We are fighting biological war against Coronavirus. Every person should maintain proper distance of 1 metre and avoid public gatherings. During meeting with owners of industrial units, Dr. Raut urged them to manufacture hand-sanitizers, face masks and suits and provide it to administration. He also warned people not to indulge in any type of celebration. “Yesterday, some citizens danced and burst firecrackers at 5 pm. Such activities defeat the very purpose of social distancing,” he said and added that this is the beginning of a big war.
