Sanjay Patil: Nagpur Press Media : 29 May 2020 : Municipal Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe took a calculated stand and redrew the map of containment area at two areas on Thursday. The immediate benefit of civic body's revised containment area notification will go to residential colonies in Kushi Nagar, Prabhag-1, and at Hill Top-Sudam Nagari and adjoining localities in Prabhag-13. Municipal Commissioner in the notification said that as no new cases have emerged hence only the area near epicenter (the place where positive patient was detected) is being kept under sealing order while rest is moved out of containment area.
At Mominpura citizens came out in large numbers and demanded scaling down of containment area so that people can move out and eak out their livelihood. Increasingly the containment zone orders are turning out to be law and order problems and citizens and local political parties leaders are blaming Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) officials for hyper reaction. Their demand is that only the area and nearby houses where a coronavirus patient was detected needed to be sealed and not every approach and exit road of a big colony. Kushi Nagar: As per the notification now sealing in Kushi Nagar will remain effective in demarcated area to South East-Munnare's house, South West-Naresh Tumane's house, North West-Sahadev Dhamgaye's house to North-Hemraj Badole's house.
The areas falls under Mangalwari Zone-I of NMC. Ambazari: In Ambazari area protests erupted again on Thursday with citizens demanding relaxation from harsh curbs given the fact that no new coronavirus patient has emerged from the any of the sealed areas. Earlier, Vikas Thakre, MLA, had taken lead and staged demonstration in Pandhrabodi area where most of the people are daily wage earners and their inability to move out due to containment zone impeded their work.
On Thursday, former Minister and MLC Dr Parinay Fuke and Dr Parinita Fuke along with hundred of citizens from Hill Top, Munje Baba Ashram colony, Trust Layout, Pandhrabodi took to streets protesting the arbitrary orders of NMC in declearing such a widespread area as containment zone. The Fuke couple said if by tomorrow the area sealing order is not revised they would stage indefinite sit-in.
Till the other day, Municipal Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe was of view that since as per the provisions desealing of any area cannot be done without completion of 28-days and asked people not to be misled by anyone. But abruptly Mundhe changed his mind today and decided to redraw the containment zone which now excludes much of the extra part added to Pandhrabodi area. Now in the new order the containment area border includes to East-Pandhrabodi police outpost, North East-Shiv Sena office, North-Sanjay Nagar, North West-Campus Road Sanjay Nagar, West-Campus Road, South West-Sudam Nagar Sarvajanik Sauchalay and to South-Munje Baba Ashram Trust Layout.
Meanwhile at Mominpura protest are intensifying as citizens said due to containment movement of even essential supplies is held-up as per the protocol. Citizens are at receiving end as most of them are not able to move out of the colony and are worried about their earnings taking a hit. Parts of Howrapeth area sealed, NMC issues notification today Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) issued order notifying area in Howrapeth as containment zone two days after a person tested positive for coronavirus. As per the order the area falling in Prabhag 33 in Dhantoli Zone-4 would cover to North West-area till house of Madhukar Talvekar (Howrapeth main road), North East-Ramesh Mehar's house, to South West-Omprakash Bhakte's house (Ring Road) and to South East-Sai Sankalp (Ring Road). Scale down containment area: Mominpura residents At Mominpura citizens came out in large numbers and demanded scaling down of containment area so that people can move out and eak out their livelihood.
Their demand is that only the nearby area of a coronavirus patient sealed and not every approach and exit road of a big colony. Ashok Patil, Assistant Commissioner, Gandhibagh Zone, NMC, said that the citizens were explained the current scenario and as to their demands they would be considered by the civic administration. Patil said that the citizens were demanding removal of barricades near Mayo Hospital. Patil said that already two exit points are provided at Golibar Square and Ganjakhet and one more opening is now decided near Mayo Hospital. The situation in Mominpura on COVID-19 front is quite troublesome as daily number of patients coming positive means any relaxation has to be calibrated in careful manner. Meanwhile, Municipal Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe reiterated that containment zones are meant for protection of citizens. Only the area where a person is found COVID-19 positive, the NMC as per procedures order sealing of the area so as to ensure that infection does not spread further. Citizens should not fall prey to any rumours and support the administration.
‘Anybody coming to city to undergo 14-day quarantine’ Any person coming to city from outside would have to undergo 14-day quarantine as per the directions issued by Maharashtra Government. Municipal Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe has stated that it is noticed that persons returning from other places are testing positive for novel coronavirus. Hence, those coming into city either by air, railway, private vehicle or any other medium would have to remain in solitary confinement at their respective homes. NMC would put up a notice outside the home of such persons and in case they are found violating the provision they would be picked up and put in institutional quarantine. Neighbours should keep watch and report violation of home quarantine to NMC on phone numbers 0712-2567021/2551866. Similarly, in case during the home quarantine period anyone suffers high temperature, feels drowsy, cough or feels difficult to breathe then they should immediately visit nearest primary health centre or private practitioner of Government hospital and take medical advice. In case any person having previous history of high temperature, flu, pneumonia then private hospital should isolate the patient and take the swab and sent it for COVID-1i9 test.
