Guardian Minister Dr Raut inspected progress of Maha Metro project : Sanjay Patil

Sanjay Patil : Nagpur Press Media : 28 June 2020: Dr Nitin Raut, Guardian Minister of district, paid a goodwill visit to Metro Bhavan on Friday and took stock of the progress of Maha Metro’s Nagpur project. He also held a meeting to discuss various aspects of the ongoing project. Dr Brijesh Dixit, Managing Director of Maha Metro, welcomed Dr Nitin Raut. Mahesh Kumar, Director (Project); Sunil Mathur, Director (Rolling Stock and System); S Sivamathan, Director (Finance); Devendra Ramtekkar and Anil Kokate, Executive Directors; and other Maha Metro officials were present in the meeting. Dr Sanjeev Kumar, Divisional Commissioner; Ravindra Thakare, District Collector, and other officers also were present in the meeting.
The officials of Maha Metro briefed Dr Raut about the present status of Nagpur Metro project work. They made a comprehensive presentation of the same. The unique features of the project were discussed. The presentation included major features like double-decker bridge being created at Wardha Road and four-layer transportation structure near Gaddigodam. Some of the unique features highlighted in the meeting included the concept of greenest metro, solar energy generation, 5D BIM, last mile connectivity, public outreach. The second phase of Maha Metro Nagpur, which stretches into the suburban and rural areas of Nagpur were among the prominent points covered in the presentation.
The officers informed Dr Raut about Broad Gauge Metro, which connects Nagpur to satellite towns and cities like Wardha, Ramtek, Bhandara, Katol. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Raut appreciated the professional and efficient approach of Maha Metro. He said that he was looking forward for more innovation and modern work in the interest of the city.
Before the meeting, Dr Raut took a round of Metro Bhavan and had a first-hand feel of its various features. The gallery at Metro Bhavan showcases different shades of the city project. The basic concept of using 5D BIM, Maha Card, non-fare revenue box, cost-saving initiatives have been explained in the gallery. The minister also saw various facilities at Metro Bhavan including novel ‘Experience Centre’, which presents a virtual learning experience for students. The centre gives current status of the project on a big screen. Similarly, exhibition centre displays models of various project sites of Maha Metro.
